The Need for a Low Cost Humidifier
DPoint Technologies is a privately held Vancouver based company focused on developing and supplying heat and humidity exchangers for Fuel Cell Systems and Energy Recovery Ventilators. Humidifiers are critical to fuel cell performance and reliability and are currently one of the top 3 most expensive components in the fuel cell engine other than the stack. Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV) Cores exchange heat and humidity to reduce the load on a building’s HVAC system. Current ERV Cores do not meet industry targets for efficiency and cost.
Patented Technology Designed for Manufacturability & Using Low Cost Materials
DPoint has developed innovative planar membrane humidifier technology with an attractive cost structure. DPoint has developed humidifiers that are lower in cost, smaller in size and have lower pressure drop than other humidification products in the Fuel Cell industry. DPoint has also developed an ERV Core design that can be produced to fit virtually any size system, with greater performance than and at similar price points to other products in the HVAC industry. The low cost has been achieved through the use of low cost plastic materials, a polymer-based membrane and the development of continuous manufacturing methods.
A Team of Fuel Cell and Humidification Experts
DPoint’s team consists of fuel cell, membrane, and humidification experts that come from Ballard, Hydrogenics, Greenlight Power, DuPont, Cellex and Husky Injection Moulding each having worked with and developed a variety of different humidification systems.
Products for Various Markets and Applications
DPoint’s current product offering includes the Dx1 (500W-3kW), the Dx5 (3-10kW), the Px1 (200W-1kW), and the Px3 (3kW-100kW) for back-up power, forklifts, stationary power, and automotive markets. In the ERV market, DPoint currently offers the ExR cross-flow core for residential markets and the ExC cross-flow core for commercial markets. DPoint is also developing a next generation counter-flow core to further exceed industry standards for performance.
