Watching a mini-documentary feature on Geoffrey Ballard starting Ballard Power Systems on a major television network a number of years ago whetted David's interest in the alternate power source of the emerging technology of fuel cells. He applied his interest in fuel cells while at university by conducting an undergraduate research assistantship on analytical stress modeling of mechanical effects on fuel cell components, and was a part of the UW Alternate Fuel Team with work on the retrofit of a fuel cell SUV.

Now, David's role is as mechanical designer at Dpoint, focused on the development of the next generation of humidifier products. He was involved with the design of DPoint's first humidifier by providing support with computational fluid dynamics as part of his fourth year design project at university. He also brings past experience in injection molding and machine design from an industry leader and previously worked at another high technology company in the field of MEMS/nanotechnology. He recently graduated _summa cum laude_ from the mechanical engineering program at the University of Waterloo, receiving the Canadian Society for Mechanical Engineering Gold Medal. He also plans to continue with postgraduate education in the new year in collaboration with DPoint.
