Ed McCarthy
Ed is responsible for modeling the performance of membrane humidifiers and ERVs at DPoint. He is also currently working on his M.A.Sc. degree at the University of British Columbia under the supervision of Dr. Walter Merida. Ed completed his B.Eng. in mechanical engineering with high distinction at Ottawa's Carleton University in 2007. His passion for the development of clean energy sources led him to graduate work in the field, and the burgeoning clean energy industry in Vancouver made the city an obvious choice. He holds a joint NSERC/MITACS scholarship to work with through to mid 2009.

During his undergraduate career, Ed spent his final year working on Carleton's Raven Zero Emission Gas Turbine for his design project, mainly in control systems and testing. In addition, he has spent a summer internship at Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd.'s Chalk River Nuclear Laboratories, working with Decommissioning Services and the process of decommissioning the site's original NRX reactor.

In his time at DPoint, Ed has been involved in developing and testing a prototype counterflow model for DPoint's ERV program. He has also been exploring the ancillary benefits of moving to Vancouver and can usually be found in the mountains exploring new trails or fresh powder.
